Piatti Mill Valley has been a cherished Italian restaurant in Marin County, California since the 1980’s. In 2019, the restaurant's owners approached Dorman Associates, seeking assistance with rebranding all eight Piatti locations. Each location had developed its own unique identity over the years, calling for a cohesive and contemporary reimagining.

The rebranding initiative introduced a marketplace-style element known as "Piatti Provisions," incorporating the restaurant's retail and to-go offerings, with morning espresso offerings. The 2,900 square feet space pays homage to the history of Piatti by retaining the existing marble at the exhibition kitchen, while infusing new warmth with the addition of wood and brass accents. A revitalized 20-person bar provides a comfortable setting for patrons to enjoy a pleasant meal, while the 120+ seat dining room accommodates parties of all sizes. Walls are accented with a plaster finish and artwork of found objects recalling the traditional methods of Italian cooking. The design team developed contemporary retail & bar shelving that elevates the space using steel, glass & walnut. The fresh concept joins Piatti’s historic Italian culture with the contemporary; emphasizing the virtues of freshness and simplicity that define this sophisticated dining experience.
