This Laguna Hills Residence is a new project on an empty hillside lot, less than a block from the beach. Free-standing walls of local stone create privacy and orient the view to the ocean. Their rustic finish contrasts with sleek plaster, steel doors and large, contemporary windows, eliciting a sense of time and place, as if the new building sprouted amidst the ruins of an ancient edifice. 

The home will host the owner’s extended family, with ample outdoor courtyards that allow for celebrating together as well as places for quiet contemplation. The watery edge of the endless lap pool will blend seamlessly with the ocean horizon. The locations and size of shade structures were carefully studied to provide maximum protection from the sun’s heat while enhancing the outstanding views.
